Belleville Wix Academy - Ofsted Inspection – 11th and 12th February 2025
We are delighted to announce the results of our recent Ofsted Inspection, where we received the highest outcome possible.
As with most schools like ours whose last full inspection was graded ‘Good’, we received an ‘ungraded’ inspection. Graded judgements are not given in an ungraded inspection. However if Ofsted find evidence that the school's work has improved significantly, then the next inspection will be a graded one.
In an ‘ungraded’ inspection, there are 4 possible outcomes. We were delighted to receive 'Outcome 2' where 'evidence suggests that the school’s work may have improved significantly across all areas since the previous inspection.' This means there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the school would be judged outstanding in a ‘graded’ inspection.
The inspection focused in particular on the quality of education in early reading, early maths, science, art and PE, as well as on pupils’ personal development. The inspector was extremely positive about the school in his feedback sessions throughout the inspection and during the final feedback session with leaders. A few highlights from the report are given below.
- ‘Pupils thrive at this vibrant, friendly school where they feel happy and safe. Relationships between adults and pupils are warm and nurturing.’
- ‘Some pupils join the school at different points during the year. They say that they are made to feel welcome straight away and that they make new friends quickly.’
- ‘High aspiration shapes the goals for pupils’ learning. Pupils achieve exceptionally well across the curriculum.’
- ‘Pupils behave impeccably. Their positive attitudes contribute to a successful learning environment.’
- ‘Pupils have plenty of high-quality opportunities for personal development beyond the academic curriculum.’
- ‘Pupils have an excellent start to their education here. As soon as they join the early years, staff assess and determine children’s starting points. This means that pupils with SEND get the support that they need at the earliest opportunity.’
- ‘Staff deliver the curriculum with expertise, selecting effective strategies to support pupils’ learning. They carefully sequence knowledge to help pupils connect new concepts with prior learning.’
- ‘The school has designed an ambitious curriculum. As soon as children start in the early years, they benefit from the expert teaching of early reading.’
- ‘Leaders, trustees, and governors share an unwavering vision for every pupil to thrive. They are committed to doing ‘whatever it takes’ to secure excellent outcomes for pupils.’
We feel that this report is a fair reflection of our consistent and collective effort to ensure an excellent education for all our children. It is testament to the work of our staff, the Quality First Education Trust and the Local Governing Board. We will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.
